Mobiles
The mobiles were the first system of three-dimensional translation to come out of Tegeder’s drawings and paintings. The colored glass of her mobiles is translated from the geometry and systems of her paintings and drawings, the transparency of the glass lending the works the appearance of being permeable, engaging the architecture and light of their environments.

The Wellin Museum commissioned a 9 x 8 x 12 foot glass and metal mobile to respond to the interior architecture of the Wellin’s new Machado and Silvetti-designed building. Drawing inspiration from urban planning, architecture, geography, and statistical data, among other sources, she comments upon the inherent beauty and interconnectivity between various social, mechanical, and informational systems. Stylistically evocative of Russian Constructivist and Suprematist art movements from the early twentieth century, Tegeder’s contemporary approach to abstraction employs new technology and multidisciplinary processes.
