Taxi Conference is an artist’s book that was produced as part of the Art in Odd Places Festival in October 2010. Interviews conducted with numerous taxi drivers about different routes taken from Manhattan’s 14th Street to various locations around the city were made into pocket-sized books and strewn on the back seats of one hundred taxicabs for unsuspecting riders to discover. The prose of each driver’s distinctive route was transcribed into poems that addressed the relationship between urban planning and architecture, highlighting the idiosyncrasies of the individual cabbies.
